This is my favourite shot I've taken so far this year and I took it during the first few days of 2019. It's crazy the amount of places I've visited purely to capture one image. These wrecks took a whole 3 hours each way just to get there and snap a few shots before leaving again. It sounds excessive but I've done it that many times that I know the end result will be worth it and the journey to get there will create some of the best memories that will stay with me forever. Would love to hear some ...

🇦🇺One of the most famous wrecks on Moreton Island is the Tangalooma Wrecks. Fifteen vessels that were deliberately sunk by the Queensland Government to form a breakwall for small boats. Coral has now formed around the wrecks creating an artificial reef and an amazing wreck dive and snorkel site. ⛴ . . . 📍Location: Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia 📍Coordinates 27°09'49.1"S 153°22'05.7"E . . . 📸Photos and 🎥Video by @gabscanu 👍Follow @destination_grid . . . . #destination_grid #tangalooma esort ...

Scuba Steve would be proud! Snorkeling the ship wreck @tangaloomaislandresort was seriously cool.... I was a little freaked at first.... I haven’t surrounded by fish in years and it is unreal. @lesterrose24 rocked her GoPro camera and waved it around a bit to try to catch the shark swimming in one of the ships..... bahaha so much laughter that day!
Continued my trip to Australia with a full day excursion to the beautiful Moreton Island. Just off the coast of Brisbane, these ships were sunk here to provide safe anchorage for smaller boats. The result is an incredible dive site with coral and hundreds of species of tropical fish. After snorkeling around the vessels, we paddled in clear kayaks and finished off with some sweeeet sand tobogganing. Highlight of the day will be shown in my next post where you can meet my new sea friend... . . . @sunsetsafaris #sunsetsafaris#moretonisland
Located just north of the Tangalooma Island Resort are the Tangalooma Wrecks, a cluster of ships scuttled by the Queensland Government between 1963 and 1984 to provide safe anchorage spot for recreational boat owners on the eastern side of Moreton Bay.
