When @csweetin told me she named her cat after this lake, I knew it had to be a spectacle. 😻 There are a few shallow islands in the middle of the water that would be *perfect* for hot swimming weather. Making note to bring a donut floatie and iced tea. 🍹😎☀️
Exploring nature on two wheels is definitely the most exciting and refreshing travel experience!🚵♂️🚵♀️🚴🏻♀️🚴♂️ Riding tour is pretty physically demanding, but those enchantingly beautiful views on road totally worth it. 😍😍🤩🤩 Are you an addicted rider? Share your riding experience with us！🙌🙌🤗🤗
🎶The rise to the top of this mountain has been biblical🎶 - @champagnepapi Sunset this past Friday on a 6 night backpacking trip with @devinkahle . This was the first night after we reached the top of Aasgard Pass, 2200ft of gain in 3/4 of a mile. | #shotoniphone
At least 70 bug bites, had to shit in a open air box for 3 days, sleeping pad deflated at 3 in the morning every night. I would rate camping 10/10 would kill my self again. Shoutout to Dux to making the trip fun.
Water crossings get my adrenaline going. Even a seemingly tame crossing could have an unexpected fast moving current. They can be very deceiving. This one wasn’t a problem thankfully. I do prefer crossing through the water sometimes over using a log if it’s available. Something about the water moving under the log gives me a sense of vertigo. If I feel it’s safe, I’ll choose wet feet over potentially falling off a log. How do you feel about water crossings? Photo credit: @jarlaanestad
A view of headlight basin camp, with north and south Ingalls peaks to the right. I'm getting slowly better and drawing outside from life. Great chill backpacking trip with minimal rain though it still felt more like October than July
Tide-pool or tarn? I love the way two areas that seem impossibly different can have so many similarities. Often fleeting, whether gazing into tide-pools revealed for only a few hours a day, or wandering through a rocky landscape dotted with snow-melt tarns, surely to disappear by fall. Their impermanence makes me love them all the more. . . . . . . . . . . . . #wishyouwerenorthwest#pnwmoods
I really loved the colors in this spot. I actually learned about this hike from an older gentleman I met descending Mount Si a while ago. He was probably twice my age, but we bonded over how much we hated going downhill on our creaky knees 😆 His name is Bob, and he was getting in shape to go backpacking with his grandkids. What a badass, right? If you know Bob, tell him thanks for the suggestion for me! ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: #womenwhohike#optoutside ...
Hiking in Washington has opened my eyes to amazing scenery around every corner - who knew there was so much to learn about and explore in the Northwest! 🎒 This was only an overnight trip of 25 miles, half of which I spent limping due to some knee pain. Hopefully I’ll be back at it soon so I can enjoy that fresh, mountain air again🌲🌼🍃
Find what makes your heart sing. Do it. Even (and especially) if you do it solo - to remain authentically you. And if you can share these experiences with another, pick peeps who have the dance moves to compliment that song. 🌟 Alpine Lakes Wilderness with the effervescent @thelittleredwagenaar
Some of my favorite moments from the Cascades, in Washington and Oregon. Mostly taken in the fall. Hard to pick a favorite season up there but Autumn may take the cake for me. These are all available in the print shop at the moment- use code “summer” at checkout for 20% off, link in bio, ends Sunday ☀️
Three work weeks, 15 days, 120 hours...that’s all the vacation time most get to visit places like this a year. I hope everyone utilizes their free time to do whatever it is that they’re passionate about..if not, what is it all for 🤷♂️. #routineistheenemyoftime
I was really taken with the contrast of the white-ish goat fur and lush green bokeh forest in the background. The AF-C Tracking on this camera is insane and really makes the culling process more time consuming with all the tac sharp shots to sift through. First world problems, I know 🤷🏼♂️. . . . . . I did not want to make any sudden movements with an adult goat near by this baby, so I made a quick iPhone video instead of fetching my camera. It was very interesting to observe how the other adult goats spread out to build a perimeter around the baby to keep it safe. Very organized and serious, but still very trusting of humans. Hope to see them again in the fall when the colors change over. . . . . . . . Camera: iPhone X . . . . . . . #backpacking#travel ...
“Humble” comes from Latin humus, meaning "earth, ground." From humus came the Latin adjective humilis, meaning "low, near the ground.” Nothing makes me feel more humble, down to earth, and small, than opting outside on foot and staying the night where the starlight goes unchallenged 💚
Another epic adventure in the books! ⠀⠀ 3 Days 30+ Miles 33 lbs Pack 5,400 ft Elevation Gain ⠀⠀ Alpine lakes, solitude, dependence on streams for water, breathtaking views, snow, narrow, overgrown trails, crisp mountain air... and while it did come with conflicting maps, close to 60 mosquito bites and 7 blisters... there is nothing that compares to being in awe of a Creator who so delicately created such vast beauty.
Please don’t fly drones or let your friends fly them. They are disturbing , annoying and obnoxious. They scare animals and generally ruin a lot of people’s backcountry wilderness experience. #wilderness#nodrones
In the end, she became more than what she expected. She became the journey, and like all journeys, she did not end, she just simply changed directions and kept going. -r.m drake✨ When planning for a trip, do you prepare a Plan B for those “just in case” moments? #forevershewanders⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #herwanderfullife
