Many of you awesome people asked us if Egypt is safe. In our opinion it is and we never felt uncomfortable or unsafe during our two weeks stay and also other travelers we met have the same feeling about it. Of course you have to be careful like in every other country but this should be the standard when traveling. What are your best safety tips? We always got so hyped when we saw photos of Petra in Jordan and it definitely lives up to the hype. The dramatic scenery with the pink sandstone cliffs with the tombs and temples carved into them make this place to one of our highlights. Some tips if you plan to go: - the ticket counter opens at six am but with the Jordan Pass you can go directly to the gate and you should definitely go at this time - don't believe the horse carriage guys after the gate that the ride is included, it costs ...
Bye bye Egypt, we had a great time even though we missed the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert at the Pyramids of Giza. Lesson learned: Inform yourself about special events when traveling to another country. If you could go to a concert at the pyramids, which artist would you love to see there? If you are curious, our next stop is Jordan. We can't wait to explore it. Travel tips based on our experiences: www.mochilamonkeys.com Dress: @fufa.eg
Once you start traveling, you will never be the same. Traveling opens our mind and changes the way how we perceive our surroundings and it shifts our priorities. In our opinion it teaches us more than any school or university could: About happiness, life fulfillment and spiritual goals. Did you recognize any changes since you started traveling? Look for a partner who goes with you trough ups and downs and supports you in every situation and decision. Our highlight in Siwa was the desert tour in the Great Sand Sea. Thanks to our experienced driver we drove steep sand hills up and down and felt like in a roller coaster, tried sand boarding (even though on our butts and not standing 😂) and slept in a desert camp, glancing at the bright stars at the night sky. Thank you for this experience @amazing_siwa Erika's outfit: @fufa.eg Travel tips based ...
A question to all the early risers out there: What time do you wake up and what time do you go to sleep? The most successful people wake up really early. People like the Rock or Apple CEO Tim Cook wake up at 4am, no matter which week day, every single day. So I (Marco) want to give it a try. Maybe I can convince Erika as well. 😉 I will report about my experiences. Erika's outfit: @fufa.eg Travel tips based on our experiences: www.mochilamonkeys.com
This lake with it's beautiful color right behind us contains, similar to the dead sea, a large amount of natural salt so you will float and you can't sink. Did you know salt is really good for your skin? No wonder Erika didn't hesitate to dip in, even though the outside temperature was a bit chilly. Would you jump in? We wouldn't have found this spot without the help of @amazing_siwa By the way we receive many messages what Erika is wearing lately. Her outfits are from @fufa.eg
Have you ever been surprised by an unplanned place? When we planned our route trough Egypt we didn't plan to go to Siwa but locals were telling us about this pearl in the desert and that we shouldn't miss it. As you know us we tend to change our plans spontaneously and we are so glad we did that. Siwa amazed us with its beauty and charm and we can't wait to show you more. Thank you @amazing_siwa for organizing this amazing trip. Erikas outfit: @fufa.eg
Another bucket list point fulfilled: Visiting the pyramids of Giza, which actually wasn't as crowded as we imagined (beside the Sphinx). There is so much space to roam around that most of the time we didn't have any other person near to us. Next on the list: Visiting Petra in Jordan. Its not like we travel from bucket list point location to the next, but it's nice to pass by along our journey. What is your next bucket list point you gonna fulfill? Erika is wearing @fufa.eg ...
I could dance with you trough the whole night. If you plan to visit the two temples of Abu Simbel in the south of Egypt, don't do it like the other tourists and avoid booking a day trip from Aswan because you would end up with hundreds of other people. Better take a bus from Aswan to Abu Simbel, sleep a night there and the next morning visit the temples for the sunrise. Then at 1pm you can catch the bus back to Aswan. (But don't forget to buy the ticket in the morning before ...
Have you ever slept and dined in a historical building? The @1920svilla.restaurants is a beautiful ten room historical boutique villa in the buzzing city of Cairo built in the classic French architectural style with modern interior. We fell in love with that look and have now some more ideas how we gonna decorate our future home after this trip. 😉 Btw if you want to see which delicious food we ate in this shot, swipe left. #ad
Even tough this shot was taken in Malaysia, it makes us miss our Vietnam motorbike road trip. The freedom of going wherever we want without restricted to any train or bus schedule was what we enjoyed the most. But not only in Vietnam, during our whole journey we enjoy the freedom. Being free in actions and decisions gives us room to spread our wings of creativity. What is it the most you enjoy about traveling?
What is for you essential in a relationship? For us it's making each other laugh. It may be a funny joke or a silly comment but without laughing it wouldn't be as much fun as it is right now. And I (Marco) have to confess that I mostly do them without anybody else to notice beside Erika because others would definitely think that I am crazy. 😂
Did you know that human people follow trough on what they believe they are? That means whatever you think about yourself will define your decisions and subconscious. That can be positive when you think great about yourself but unfortunately it can be the opposite as well. It's your decision. 😉 Latest blog post: The best apps for Instagram stories www.mochilamonkeys.com
Do you know that feeling where you work on your goals as hard as you can but it seems that you don't make any progress? In that phase it's important to continue and keep going because only then you will reach the point where you will finally see some results and changes. Or in other words: Momma didn't raise no quitter! 😉😂 Latest blog post: The best apps for Instagram stories. www.mochilamonkeys.com
Walk like a Egyptian. A dream came true for Erika: Exploring Egypt. This country was alwys high up on her bucket list and finally the time has come. As we are making our way from South to North we indulge delicious food and visit ancient places. New addicting snack: Date pastries. Guess the six pack has to wait. 😅 Do you have any tips for Egypt? The last days we were eating only with our hands. Have you ever tried it? (the typical food like burger etc. doesn't count 😉) It's actually quiet fun even tough it can get a bit messy, depends on the type of food and the skill. But the locals are always amused and welcoming when they see us eating like this. You could say, it's the perfect ice breaker to make new friends. 😂 And if you never did it, give it a try, maybe you gonna like it. 😉
Did you watch the tv series Stargate when you were young? When wandering trough the ancient sites of Sudan with all these pyramids I (Marco) feel like I am on a Stargate set just waiting for the Goa`uld to attack. Have you ever felt like on a movie set?
