Sea stacks in the ocean, seen during moonset with the Milky Way as a backdrop, on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland 🇮🇸 Taking this picture means that you are standing atop the Mid-Atlantic Ridge where it rises from the ocean. The ridge marks the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, which are drifting apart around 2.5cm every year. It is a part of the mid-ocean ridge system, which is the single largest geologic feature on the surface of the earth at 75,000km. Nowhere else in the world can you stand on the ridge and see land ...
We had thunder hail today. Not quite as big as this hunk of ice, but pretty big. The ducks ran for cover under the bushes. I've never seen that in October before. Of course I had never see house-sized hunks of blue green ice until last October. See the #rainbow ?I'm working on a post about Iceland over on the blog-link in bio #climatechangeisreal .
Do I need any caption for this photo? I’m on iceberg y’all! 🙌🏼 #iceland🇮🇸 •••• Second page music by @bsd.u “charlie” This music matches this magical place ✨✨✨✨🙏🏼 •••• ••• Thanks @goodwillintl aka my closet For my hoodie and sweater haha •• •• Photo by @chris_tarango @visual.butter #iceberg
This is Kirkjufell in the tidal pool just to the east of Kirkjufellsfoss. It’s shot in color on my Sony a7r3 using a Sony 12-24mm lens. 20 second exposure to blur the clouds and smooth the water. Shot just after sunrise. Its interesting to shoot the same subject but switch color vs. infrared. The two are so different and bring out different aspects. #kirkjufell#snaefellsnes
I love anything I can find with some sort of uniformity with a touch of something to break that uniformity. I’d like to thank this bird for dropping in to help make the photo. . . . #iceland#icelandtravel
🇷🇺Ещё один язык самого крупного ледника в Исландии. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🇺🇸Another tongue of Vatnajökull glacier. Not only the largest glacier in Iceland but also the largest glacier mass in Europe ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #hike#travel
Iceland was amazing, it wouldn't have been the same without @ernaei, one of the many special friends I made when I lived in Cambodia, and her partner Kata. I was extremely fortunate to have had friends hosting me during my visit, welcoming me into their home, showing me around, and sharing Icelandic tales & history. I love you two and I can't wait to see you in 2020 with your new bundle of joy! ❤ . The purpose of this trip was to reconnect with friends I haven't seen in a long time, with whom I have a great connection ...
At the heart of downtown Reykjavik, this "crystalline" concert hall named Harpa is definitely the most spectacular modern architecture in the entire city. Inspired by Iceland's volcanic geology, it provides a dazzling view of the harbour with peace and serenity. . . . #reykjavik#reykjavík
What a treat exploring the Highlands in October! Save for the few sheep who flew under the radar during réttir, there was no company to be had in these otherworldly landscapes...😍 · · · #iceland#icelandtravel
Pack a bag, grab your best friend and go! We rented a car, brought a tent & committed to adventure along the southern ring road- after exploring the peninsula and North of the Wall from @gameofthrones. We had a few tours booked, but decided to be spontaneous and allow ourselves to explore and have a flexible schedule to fully immerse ourselves and road trip! #optoutside
I hope you like this picture because I almost died to get it, and being only about 5% facetious. During my Snaefellsnes tour, we stopped at this beautiful overlook with this beautiful river and it was stunning. But I couldn’t get the angle I wanted to take this picture so I decided to go a little bit lower. I took one step and started sliding. I drop my phone and selfie stick and just start grabbing anything I can! There were a few moments where I remember thinking, “Iceland isn’t a bad place to die at least.” _________ I stopped ...
I used to think it was just Chris, but every male, young or old, is obsessed with skipping rocks whenever there is an opportunity. Am I wrong? I doubt it. Amazing form, Chris.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #travel#travelgram @charissemiller @chrismiller0686 @icelandair @icelandtravel
Standing by and watching plumes of steam from water being heated to a boil by the surface of our planet is a great reminder of the power of this crazy violent scary rock we live on. As little sentient bags of water we are lucky to be able to live here and try to understand our place on this place we live.
The Blue Lagoon in Iceland in now probably one of the most iconic spot to hit !!!! Definitely worth the experience, if you take the basic ticket for the entrance, you’ll get a face mask, a drink ( make sure to take the blue slush Prosecco 🤩) also make sure to book at least one month in advance to make sure you got a ticket 🎫 #bluelagoon#bluelagooniceland
Despite the rain, clouds, winds and snow, Iceland still put up a great show.. . This was our second trip to Iceland, and in a déjà vu moment we again witnessed this phenomenal show on our last and final night in the country! After almost giving up all hope due to the unending cloud cover, rains and snow, our persistence finally paid off when the northern lights eventually made an appearance through the clouds!! 🇮🇸😊 . #northernlights#aurora
Getting to the DC-3 plane crash site is not for the faint of heart. We walked almost 4 miles on the black sand - howling wind across the most barren landscape. Braving the rain and sleet the entire way. . . But it was totally worth it. Visiting this site has been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember. I was able to witness it with the best crew. Iceland, we’ll be back. . Don’t laugh at my funny hat, it saved my life 😂⚡️ . . #iceland#solheimasandur ...
