More readers from last week. Gabe, Lilian, Emily, Aidan, Adyson, Lily, Kelis and Madison all delivered a great reading experience to the CBE students. Kelis went over terrified but you’d never know from the pictures, and Gabe and Lilian hammed it up with our snowman! #tmslibrary#readingexamples
While I’m reinventing Once Upon a Storybook, I work as an elementary school librarian. If you don’t know what I look like—well, this is a very fair representation by a student in my library. It’s the first note/picture a student has done for me, and it is precious to me! #guinfosslibrary#studentportrait
Friends, my book collection is getting outta control. I'm fully expecting to hear from many folks who tell me there's no such thing as too many books. And for the most part I agree. It's just that I am literally running out of room, with piles of books all over my living room and office. 📚📚📚 What's a girl to do? Donate? Sell? Get more shelves? Weigh in with a comment telling me how you deal with your book obsession and help me feel like I'm not crazy. K? Thanks. ❤️ . . . #librariesofinstagram#librarylife ...

We stayed warm and dry while doing some inside gardening today at our last session of MG Sprouts at the Milton Library! We’ve had a blast this fall learning about horticulture while enjoying stories and practicing literacy skills. Today the group read “The Tree Farmer” and planted tiny acorns to take home to grow into mighty oaks 🌳. This fall we’ve also created flower seed tapes, mixed our own potting soil using compost, planted garlic and houseplants, and more. Thank you to our wonderful Master Gardener volunteer Kathie Lunsford for leading this program and to the Milton Library for hosting ...

Happy Dewey Decimal System Day! That call number on the spine of your nonfiction library book? That’s a Dewey number. The Dewey Decimal System first came into use in 1876, and by organizing books according to subject, it’s been helping readers find the right book ever since. #deweydecimal#librariesofinstagram
"Dewey" recommend trying this at home (or at the library)? Not likely. But we do recommend getting comfy with a great book however you like this holiday season! . . #15daysofbibliobandhas#beecavelibrary
On the sixth school day of December, the librarian recommended to me The Meltdown by Jeff Kinney. The newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book is perfect for reading in the winter time. Snow has shut down Greg’s school and turns his neighborhood into a wintry warzone. Rivals are fighting over territory, building huge forts, and throwing snowballs. Greg and Rowley are trying to navigate who to ally with, who is the enemy, and who they can trust. When the snow melts, will they be victorious or have fallen? #12booksofdecember#dairyofawimpykid

📚🤗 It’s #deweydecimalsystemday! I think it’s imperative that children learn the #deweydecimalsystem early. Daily, I strive to make learning it fun and practical - sometimes they care, sometimes they don’t but I never stop offering to teach it. A shift happens once a child is taught how to access information and they then become empowered to explore their curiosities more productively. While is complex, stick to the basic classifications and you’ll be proud of yourself for not wasting your time looking for cookbooks in the 400s!
