Progress: Inching forward with my first portrait and feeling a little more positive and a little more inspired .......inspired enough to attempt another for a different comp. #brisbaneartist#portraitpainter
Flash back Friday: Working to an ambitious deadline of re doing my studio to make jewellery again along side my painting by September. It’s work like this 2015 “Nightshade Pendant” in sterling silver that keep me motivated. #dsfloral#artisan
Progress: my first portrait attempt for the @brisbaneportraitprize prize. “Contemplating Ambition” is coming on nicely even if I’ve had to battle with the dreaded artist self doubt. I still need to work on a fair bit and details that will make it pop like reflections on the skin, muscle definition and finer details. #creativelifehappylife#michellepujol
Feeling encouraged and inspired, I set and edit a possible still life. This “bird of paradise” or “Strelitzia” had two flowers emerging from the one flower head making some beautiful angular shapes like two dancing forms. #michellepujol#stilllife
Opening night @petrie_terrace_gallery annual members exhibition. I have 4 works on display so pop in to get a closer look at my work. #michellepujol#brisbaneartist Exhibition runs until the 4th August.
The starting of something different...... “contemplating Ambition” My son after an AFL game sitting on a child’s size wingback eating a sucker seemed an interesting composition to try my first portrait and with the prospects of @brisbaneportraitprize it would be silly not to give it a go. #portraitpainter#brisbaneartist
Another #randomactofstilllife given away...... this time to the inspiring @sonialouisecozens @flyingartsalliance workshops. Thank you for making me look at my arts practice as a whole and drawing out the narratives that set me apart! I wonder if she will #pinit or ? As always Flying Arts Alliance have delivered a thought provoking and exciting day. This time on How to deliver a Successful Workshop. Highly recommended for any artist or teacher looking to host a workshop. What kind of worship would you like from me? Painting? ...
Spent an few hours @qagoma meeting up with a “drawing and ice cream group” ,drawing and instilling a sense of quiet and calm with Mitchel. (The ice cream put him back to his crazy self) #creativelifehappylife#brisbaneartist
My day at the @johnhoneywill exhibition continued with stopping to sketch a #stillllife, to listen to his interviews and finally to gift him with one of my #randomactsofstilllife. This random act of still life painting was painted after seeing one of his last exhibitions. I began to think about my background colour in terms of bands of colour that would compliment the object in my small still life paintings, cast shadows dramatically but still make a quite space for the object to be held in. Out of ...
“Fynbos beneath the water” 2 weeks in the Cape of South Africa and I’ve come away with a lifetime of memories and a few inspirational shots to inspire my paintings. These little succulent flowers known as “fynbos” where growing submerged in tidal salt water almost ghostly in their beauty trapped between two worlds. #michellepujol#fynbos
Fresh from my paintbox: Laying down the foundations for my next oil still life painting. "The memory of Sweet Williams" I've been asked lately why I choose to paint in shades of blues and to be honest quite often I'm drawn to it without thinking. If I am to analyse myself I see the blues tones of my backgrounds sitting somewhere in between water and sky, in my dreams and memories. There's a nostalgia to the flowers I use and always a connection to my mother and memories to her gardening and wander in all things botanical. #workinprogress#wip ...
Fresh from my studio: playing around with still life compositions for some larger paintings. I love the light in the bottle and sheen of the scarf. ...... "Bombay sapphire and Grevillea" #michellepujol#bombaysaphire
Fresh from the morning commute: a spray of vivacious pink against a crisp blue autumn sky. I feel inspired to get through today! ...... as it leads to a creative weekend! #inspiration#australianflowers
