Here is one of the most impressive pics documenting my romantic relationships, which were always an important part of my work: Aug 26, 1988 at #moma after finishing a #bloodx intervention standing in front of my "GIFT" accompanied by @theresarodrigues, whom I dated at the time, and two security guards, waiting for the police. The two paintings which were next to my blood splash, were taken off for restoration. I used 6 x 10ml tubes of my blood to create the work. Theresa stayed with me until the police arrived and then went to to do some media contacts. ...

Drawing of @Aya_ayaka and her cat Seneca, by the late great Toyo Tsuchiya. Tragically, Toyo left us 3 weeks ago. He was a huge part of the Lower East Side art scene and a founding member of the #rivingtonschool. He was a lovely person and will be missed by so many. #toyotsuchiya @oricarino

We met with artist Adrian Wilson @interiorphotography who took us up to the roof of an apartment building on 1st ave and 2nd street where we created an installation of graffiti/action dedicated to #toyotsuchiya and the #rivingtonschool.
Thank you Toyo. You had such a wonderful spirit and I know it will live on through your art and through all the people you've touched. I will always love and admire the humble, generous, thoughtful, warm hearted man that you were. Thank you for letting me know you, thank you for your family, and thank you for all the kindness and love you've always shown me. I will always remember the Chinese buns you'd bring for Tobe and I, the Japanese curry you taught my mother how to make, the kitchen cart you made for me, the dinners we ...
RIP Toyo Tsuchiya. You will be missed. His photo of Arlene Schloss. from the 99 Nights of No Se No was the inspiration for SSB's evening of Arlene's brilliant films and for the limited edition t-shirt "Forget About That Sweet Fuck Baby." #arleenschloss#downtown
Toyo Tsuchiya and I at the book release party last year for Rivington School with his walls of photos~ and one of many he took out with @fetus_frenzy and Lexi 2001. Rest In Peace, beautiful soul. #howlhappening#noseno gone too soon.
Photographer Toyo Tsuchiya saw more through his lens and in his life than we can imagine. Today we lost an artist and a gentleman. I met @primitivolunar through you, so I promise we will do something together you would be proud of Toyo. . . #photographer#toyotsuchiya

TOYO TSUCHIYA : Photographic Art Presentation An introduction to the works of Toyo Tsuchiya and his photographic poems about Lower Manhattan in the 80s. Presented by Stephen Black, TOYO is about conversation. The images are displayed on a laptop ; nothing is framed. By contrast, the work from a few years later, when Mr. Tsuchiya had become involved in the art scene that was emerging on the Lower East Side, has a charged, in-the-thick-of-things immediacy. His subject wasn't the professionalized East Village gallery phenomenon but the fringe activity taking place in the working class, primarily Hispanic neighborhood ...

Tonight's publication party starts at 7pm! Help us welcome Max Blagg to celebrate the publication of Slow Dazzle. This illustrated book documents Max's collaborations with artists like Larry Clark, Alex Katz, Jack Pierson, Richard Prince, Jerelyn Hanrahan, Keith Sonnier and many others. We are fortunate to have Max Blagg still sharing his poetic post-Beat wit and wisdom. He speaks in the language of our rapidly disappearing tribe; a language filled with pain and delight. —Nan Goldin #publication#maxblagg
