Days ago we woke to a lightning storm flooding the sky with pink and yellow beams diffused under dark blue cirrus clouds. The three of us and Oscar huddled on a bench under our porch light, watching the show, before a luna moth landed nearby to divert our attention. She stayed the remainder of the day, refusing shelter, until death petrified her under the intense rays of the sun. . . Today was exhausting! By the time I got home, all I wanted to do was fall into bed and sleep until my shift started tomorrow. But as soon as my head hit the pillow, all I wanted to do was write. I needed that sleep, but I needed to write even more.
