“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.” - Joseph Campbell I’m convinced that life’s just a series of these caves, all holding the next seed for us to grow. It’s then a matter of looking at the challenge in front of you, if there is one, and see what it’s trying to teach you, what treasure it holds.

Our life journeys take us along so many different paths, seemingly unconnected and disparate. Until you travel enough distance and you start to realize a common thread runs through them all...a new lesson or skill that had to be learned, or a perspective that had to shift. An un-learning of old attitudes. Thoughts? This picture is nearly 10 years old, from back when I freelanced as a writer and was learning to style and take pictures.

I’ve been following some advice from people that I admire- to not worry about putting out perfect work and instead, to focus on just getting it done. I have been given this advice before but words have a way of resonating more with you when you are ready for them, yes?

“And when someone seeks,” said Siddhartha, “then it easily happens that his eyes see only the thing that he seeks, and he is able to find nothing, to take in nothing because he always thinks only about the thing he is seeking, because he has one goal, because he is obsessed with his goal. Seeking means: having a goal. But finding means: being free, being open, having no goal.” - Herman Hesse

A new year and hopefully, a new start to being here on Instagram. Happy 2019 to you! Did you feel that 2018 was like a womb, quiet, protected, a sacred space but one that required growth every single day? My 2018 was definitely that. It was clear that I could only carry myself into 2019. All old baggage to be disposed off. Here’s to new beginnings and a more authentic and powerful us!

2018 will be the year all my romantic notions about book clubs proved true. The perfect coming together of people with a variety of opinions. Long conversations on books over cups of tea and a slice of fruit tart. The feeling that we could sit together for hours and still find something to debate about. I have never really belonged to any particular group or clique but suddenly late in life, and quite when I’d stopped looking, I’ve found a tribe. All this to say whatever it is you feel you need, don’t stress about it. It’ll find you. ❤️

When you’ve been gone for a super long time, hibernating all summer, and then you throw back the covers and emerge. ❤️ How are you?

I’d a lot of free time this summer and I spent it writing, daydreaming, and getting ready for yet another adventure. For nearly a decade, I’d been trying to find something elusive. Not a thing so much as in the doing of which I can find a deep happiness. Running a business was educational but not really what I was looking for. Photography continues to be important but the stillness is momentary. It’s the love for writing that has sustained me for 30-odd years. It’s where I find myself. Where do you find yourself? I amused myself by ...

On the surface, this summer, I recuperated from some health issues, hurt my back, and then recuperated some more. (I am fine now.) On the surface, that’s what I was doing. But I have a theory that while I was dealing with all this with physical therapy etc. something magical was happening far beneath the surface. I was growing a stronger spine, learning to stand up for myself and to put firm boundaries in place. Isn’t life wonderful in the opportunities we get to grow every single day?! I am curious about you. What magical things happened to you this ...

Throwback to sometime last year! There are years where I don’t know if I’ve learned anything further about life, and then there are the last 2 years when massive life lessons have been doled out to me with unflinching regularity. I wonder if it’s okay to ask for a short break...
Have you ever met someone and then known that you could be friends because you had read the same books? As if the author stands up to vouch for you... she’s read my books, she must be nice! 🙃 Swipe to see the latest stash that I came home with. Also, how dreamy are all the blues and whites?!
