Since I’m traveling alone, there’s no one who takes photos of my random everyday life moments. So setting up the tripod and taking a ‘random’ photo sometimes feels weird and posed, but I think these little moments in between can give another insight. Long story short: Traveling by bike is less cycling through beautiful remote landscapes, but more eating nuts beside the road while sitting on a broken plastic bucket. #uruguaybybike#biketocamp @patriafahrraeder @bikewander @bike._.travel @cicloviajantes @biketouringforever @travelers_club_ir @ortlieb_waterproof
DAY 5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ A lot of times I get asked, when will I go home. Yet I don’t know how long I will still travel, but at the moment it feels the right thing to do and actually I can’t get enough. #uruguaybybike#vistasdeciclistas @bikewander @bike._.travel @cicloviajantes @biketouringforever @travelers_club_ir @patriafahrraeder @ortlieb_waterproof
This photo pretty much sums up how I feel when I look at the map and see all these places I still want to visit. Actually I find myself quite often zooming in and out and scrolling South to North in the map on my phone, imagining how it would be to travel all these places. #beachplease#uruguaybybike @patriafahrraeder @ortlieb_waterproof @quadlockcycle @bike._.travel @bikewander @travelers_club_ir @cicloviajantes @biketouringforever
Do you prefer (head)wind or rain when cycling? (I’m talking about normal wind, no Patagonian insanity) I would mostly choose wind because it makes me feel alive, rain just makes me feel like a sponge. Yesterday I had both all day long. But what else could you do, than listening to your favorite music and sing out loud in the rain to keep up your mood while cycling 70km to your next warmshower host. Side note: after three hours the wind destroyed my rain poncho. #uruguaybybike#bikingintherain ...
After spending two weeks in Montevideo, I’m back on the bike again. Had a great time in this lovely mini capital with unforgettable persons. . . . . . . #montevideorecicla#montevideo @patriafahrraeder @bike._.travel @bikewander @travelers_club_ir @cicloviajantes @biketouringforever @ortlieb_waterproof @visituruguay
On 10th of April I was on my way to rob a bank to fill up my travel budget, but I couldn’t find any in ‘Tierra del Fuego’. . . . . . #tierradelfuego#patagoniabybike @patriafahrraeder @bike._.travel @bikewander @travelers_club_ir @cicloviajantes @biketouringforever @ortlieb_waterproof
I’m just going to leave it here, I’ll come back tomorrow... That’s what I thought several times when I rode / pushed my bike along the hiking trail between ‘O’Higgins lake’ and ‘Lago del Desierto’ , to cross the border from Chile to Argentina in the middle of nowhere. What shopping in Patagonia looks like, when you travel in a group of 6 cyclists. Photo from 20th March 2019. . . . . . #bikesquad#patagoniabybike @bike._.travel @bikewander @travelers_club_ir @cicloviajantes @biketouringforever @ortlieb_waterproof
Since I’m in Montevideo, having some days off the bike, I will share some older photos that otherwise will get lost on my SD-Card. This one is from the ‘Carretera Austral’ in Southern Chile, where I told Gio & Chris after every single turn how beautiful the landscape is. Sorry for that and thanks for the photo. #carreteraaustral#chilebybike @patriafahrraeder @bike._.travel @travelers_club_ir @cicloviajantes @biketouringforever @visitsouthamerica.co @ortlieb_waterproof
Throwback to the 7th of January, when I got up at 4:30am to cycle one hour in the moonlight up to a viewpoint, to have breakfast while the sun rises with a view over the whole valley. Even though it was very hot that day, I covered 145km, including a long siesta in the shade beside the road where I bumped into two young bike travelers from Germany. We ate together, flew their drone around and talked for 3 hours straight. Since they came from the direction I was going to, we couldn’t share the road together, but still I ...
Looking out for a place to camp is one of my favorite times of the day. You never know what you get, but you know that there is a place out there that wants to be found and be your home for a night 🏕 . . . . #patagonia#argentinabybike @visitargentina @visitsouthamerica.co @visitpatagonia @bike._.travel @bikewander @travelers_club_ir @cicloviajantes @ortlieb_waterproof @patriafahrraeder @biketouringforever
Never say ‘someday’... ...sometimes ‘someday’ never comes. Setting off on this journey by bike was the best decision I’ve ever made and I couldn’t imagine that it teaches me so much about life everyday. . . . . #neversaysomeday#biketouring @patriafahrraeder @cicloviajantes @travelers_club_ir @bikewander @bike._.travel @visitargentina @visitsouthamerica.co @ortlieb_waterproof @biketouringforever
I’ve been to Bogota, Quito, Lima, La Paz, Santiago & Buenos Aires, but entering a capital by bike has never been so relaxed like in Uruguay. The two lane highway just spits you out in the city center and there you are. Hyped for museum visits, second hand markets and just strolling through the streets. . . . . #montevideo#biketocamp @bike._.travel @bikewander @travelers_club_ir @cicloviajantes
A few days ago I reached Uruguay, country number 7 of my journey. One of the safest and least corrupt countries in South America were 95% of the electricity is made of renewable energy (mostly wind generators) and cannabis is legalized! But these are just some Wikipedia facts, so the next weeks I will try to discover all the other aspects that you can’t google. . . #uruguay#visituruguay @bike._.travel @bikewander @travelers_club_ir @cicloviajantes
I’m so happy to be back on my bike after more than 4 weeks without cycling. On the first day my 50kg bike felt more like 70kg but I still smiled the whole day and sang out loud to the music. Cheers to a life in the saddle. #biketocamp#webiketheworld @bike._.travel @bikewander @travelers_club_ir @cicloviajantes @ortlieb_waterproof
When I was younger there were times when I wanted to be (like) someone else. Prettier, taller, more creative, more talented, ... Nowadays I just want to be myself - accepting my weaknesses and strengths and be content with my current self, but still willing to develop each day and every moment.
Moments of this journey Part 13 | Argentina | 04.03.2019 - 26.03.2019 A few weeks ago I noticed that I took more than 800 small videoclips on this journey. They were never meant to be put together in a video, they were mostly taken for family and friends and for myself. So these are just random moments from my journey and sometimes I didn’t record a video for two weeks, so there happened much more than you can see here, but I thought it may give you another type of insight than photos. Besides I know nothing about filming ...
